Portrait Artists, Sharpen Your Drawing Skills!
Cast drawing has been a time-honored approach that highlights the essential ideas of light, form, and overall drawing fundamentals. It is a wonderful way to work on one's ability to see and record shapes and sharpen one's eye, which are essential specially for the portrait artist. By using charcoal pencils and white chalk on a toned surface, students will get familiarized with the use of a toned surface to maximize the amount of depth along with the benefits of learning to tackle drawing issues by working from a stationary white object. Clear thorough steps will reinforce these key components as well as by demonstrations and one on one critiques.

Materials List: 2 sheets of Canson Mi-Teintes paper 19x25 (not rolled). Color options: 1- Steel Gray (best option), 2- Flannel Gray, 3-18 x 24 Strathmore Series 500 Gray charcoal paper; Vine Charcoal (Medium), General's Charcoal pencils ( HB, 2B, 6B) *optional: 4B and White Conte pencil (not sticks please); White Cretacolor white chalk pencil or General's white charcoal; Foam core board (big enough for the 19x25 Canson paper); Sand paper block (like the Nitram sanding block) or pad; Chamois, Single edge razor blades, Kneaded eraser, Blending stumps (not tortillions).
EDDIE NINO underwent disciplined and rigorous traditional training for more than 15 years as an apprentice of noted art teacher Andrew Reiss in Brooklyn, NY, followed by intensive full time study at the Grand Central Academy, and the Art Students' League. Eddie subsequently launched his career as a commissioned artist and developed his own school. He continues passing along traditions which can be traced back to artists such as Frank Vincent DuMond and Ted Seth Jacobs, to students of all ages in area of Fairfield County. CSOPA is delighted to offer this exceptional opportunity to learn from the best!
